As an Industrial Manufacturing Automation Copywriter, I am often called upon to write Case Studies, sometimes called success stories. A Case Study tells the story of how your company’s products, services, or technologies solved a real-world problem for a particular customer. It identifies a business challenge and impact, the solution employed by your customer, and the benefits gained.
ABOUT CASE STUDIES
A Case Study can be one of your most effective sales tools. Case Studies help to establish trust, and are one of the most trusted types of content marketing materials.
Case Studies tell a story of how your product solved a real-world problem for an actual customer. Case Studies usually follow this format:
- Company ABC had a Big Problem, and it was causing a lot of trouble.
- They tried several things, but nothing seemed to work.
- Then they tried our Product, and it solved their Big Problem!
- Here’s all the benefits they got from using our Product.
- Here’s some other information you should know about our Product.
- And here’s how to contact us or learn more about us and our Product.
WHO USES CASE STUDIES?
Case Studies are most often read by prospective customers (usually technologists) as they research your product or service. Quite often, Case Studies are also provided to corporate decision makers in the approval phase of the sales cycle as justification for technologists’ recommendations.
SEO IMPLICATIONS FOR CASE STUDIES
From a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) standpoint, Case Studies are an important part of your company’s content marketing ecosystem. When carefully planned and written with SEO in mind, Case Studies:
- Rank highly for search phrases with specific details and keywords unique to your products
- Are interesting and can gain backlinks from blogs, social media, and other external websites
- Should contain links to your other content marketing material.
